Changing Roles for Existing Users

Easily update the role of any active team member to match their responsibilities and access needs.

Need to update someone’s permissions? You can change a team member’s role at any time—whether you’re promoting them to Admin or restricting access to expense submission only.

Here’s how to change an existing user’s role:

  1. Go to SettingsUsers and Groups
  2. Find the team member whose role you want to change
  3. Click the three dots (⋮) next to their name
  4. Select Edit
  5. Choose the new role from the dropdown menu
  6. Click Save

The change takes effect immediately. The user will keep all their existing data but their access will reflect the new permissions right away.

💡 Tip: You can use this same method to correct a role that was assigned incorrectly during an invite.
